Even though most sweepstakes are entered online these days, there are always good mail-in sweepstakes going on all of the time. Mail-in sweepstakes often require special supplies like postcards, 3-1/2″ x 5″ cards and papers, envelopes and of course stamps.
What kind of supplies do I need for mail-in sweepstakes
You will need envelopes, postcards, 3-1/2″ x 5″ cards and 3-1/2″ x 5″ papers, 3″x5″ cards and papers, and stamps. I usually keep #10 security envelopes on hand to use for mail-in sweepstakes.
I use #10 security envelopes so no one can see my personal information that has been written on the card or paper inside. There’s not need to buy fancy envelopes anymore because most sweepstakes winners are drawn randomly and entries are often added to a computer once they are received.
What is the best size postcard for sweepstakes
For the most part I use 4″x6″ postcards. You can also purchase postcards from the post office that have the stamp already printed on them. A pre-stamped USPS postcard size measures 3-1/2 inches high x 5 inch long.
What size postcard can I send in the mail for a sweepstakes
The smallest size postcard that can be sent in the mail when entering a sweepstakes is 3-1/2 inch by 5 inches. If you find a sweepstakes that is asking for a 3″x5″ postcard they are incorrect. Most likely they haven’t read USPS sizes for postcards. When that happens I always suggest you send a 3″x5″ card inside of an envelope.
Should I Enter Mail-in Sweepstakes
You should definitely enter mail-in sweepstakes when they are the only way to enter a sweepstakes. If a sweepstakes has a purchase option to enter and only a mail-in option to get the AMOE (alternative method of entry), then sending entries in the mail is a great choice.
Many people will skip sweepstakes that require an entry sent in the mail because of the additional cost of supplies and also the extra time it takes to enter. That means you have a better chance of winning.
If a sweepstakes has an online AMOE entry method and also a mail-in entry method, you should probably enter online and save your stamps.
Can a postcard be put inside of an envelope
A postcards cannot be put inside of an envelope to be considered a postcard. It is cheaper to send a postcard than it is to send an envelope but whatever you write on the blank side can be seen by anyone who is looking at the postcard. You will need to buy postcards stamps to put on a postcard. If you don’t have postcard stamps you can also use regular first class stamps to send a postcard.
