Pampers Dry Max Launch Party in NYC March 18th
Last night I attended the star-studded Pampers Cruisers with Dry Max Launch Party in New York City. Celebrity moms and dads came out in force and spent the night mingling and take photo ops.
I have to thank Pampers for inviting me and giving me the chance to be in the Media Pit with the “paparazzi”. I was funny to see. There were all of these professional photographers, Inside Edition, Univision, and me. I was the only blogger up on the platform.
Here is a picture of the photographers getting ready for the evening’s celebrity photoshoot. There was a riser in back and when the action got going it was chaos and I was standing on the top step with about 5 other cameramen. Little did I know that the best shot was on the floor as you will see from the angle I took my pictures from.
What I loved the most was learning from these guys. My little Sony camera was no match for their $10,000 Nikon digital cameras but one of the guys actually gave me a tip. If you don’t need the red eye feature turn it off because that is what drains the battery. At the end of the photo session my camera battery gave out so I missed some shots at the end. My camera was a lot slower than theirs too so I did the best I could. My pics came out okay, although none too professional. I was just happy standing up there with the big guys and acting like the paparazzi as they yelled out “beautiful” or “fabulous” or “top, top” to get the stars to look up and give them that “money shot” which was them facing directly in front of the camera and not turning to the side or looking down. It was quite an experience and if I get invited to anymore photo ops I will have to get a better camera.
Pampers Dry Max designers were on hand to demo the new technology and teach us why this new diaper is so good. You can read more about it here.
The first to come into the event and stand on the red carpet – and yes, it was actually a red carpet – in front of the Pampers backdrop was Liz Lange, the New York designer of designer maternitywear, who designed a special designer diaper clutch just for Pampers. This bag is very fashionable and will hold a day’s worth of diapers. It even comes with a shoulder strap so you can use it as a shoulder bag if you don’t want to use it as a clutch. You can buy this diaper bag at eBags.com and they offer free shipping on orders over $25.
Next came Marcia Gay Harden, the Oscar and Tony-award winning actress, who has been in everything from Law and Order to Damages to Space Cowboys and everything in between. Marcia was joined on the red carpet by her daughter.
Two of my favorite actors came on the red carpet next, Eric Mabius and Ana Ortiz, from Ugly Betty. I have been watching the series since it has been on and just love it. This year is the end for Ugly Betty but it has been fun to watch these actors grow in their craft. I hope we see more of them.
Eric was joined by his sons Rylan Jaxon and Maxfield Eliot – wow, such big names for such little boys. Ana Ortiz came solo I believe, without baby Paloma Louise Lebenzon. Both stars hung out after the photo shoot to chat with party-goers and Eric played with his sons in the VIB (Very Important Baby) Play Area.
Next to grace the red carpet was Top Chef host, Padma Lakshmi. She has been the host of the US reality television program Top Chef since season two.
The last pics I was able to get were of Kelly Rutherford with daughter Helena and son Hermes along with Matthew Settle. Both of these actors are from the Gossip Girl show.
As my tiny Sony camera started to die out I lost track of who was coming down the red carpet but I know Olympians Chad Hedrick came along weighed down by a chestful of metals he won at the Olympics this year for Speedskating, and fellow Olympian Noelle Pikus Pace was there as well (Skeleton World Champion). Both brought their spouses and adorable babies. I actually talked with both of them and they are so down to earth and have no clue they are celebrities. I guess they will have to get used to it.
The evening was a huge success and now the new Pampers with Dry Max technology have hit the shelves and are available to the public. The cost is the same and the benefits are great so you should check them out. You can get free samples from P&G Everyday up until March 31, 2010 so hurry so you can try them out for free. That's amazing. So you were the only blogger invited? How cool.
